This sixth edition of Femmes s’exposent is a continuation of an annual photography event which is also intended to be a space for reflection on the profession and, more particularly, on the status of women photographers.<\/p>\n
The world of photography has undergone profound changes over the last twenty years with the arrival of digital technology. The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a major new challenge for those involved in photography. We are witnessing an acceleration of progress which will further question the veracity of information, due to the manipulation of images, which are sometimes indistinguishable. The potential repercussions on the profession of photographer, already precarious \u2013 for women, especially \u2013 are worrying. The relevance of the subjects and artistic creation will remain more than ever central to continuing to have visibility.<\/p>\n
This year, the Festival is dedicating an exhibition to Iranian photojournalist Forough Alaei. Her country is seeing a generation of young women who are politically engaged, who are beginning to organize themselves into a movement. Through her lens, the photographer captured these heroines who defy, at the risk of their lives, the perpetual domination of men imposed by the ultraconservative government in an Iran, now at the heart of an unprecedented economic crisis.<\/p>\n
The 2023 program tells the story of our era of profound upheavals: climate change, social and economic inequalities, the aging of our societies, etc. through the prism of art, reporting or documentary.<\/p>\n
