The second edition of the LES FEMMES S\u2019EXPOSENT festival opens its doors in Houlgate from June 7 to August 31, 2019.<\/h2>\n

This year, the LES FEMMES S\u2019EXPOSENT festival presents :<\/h3>\n

\u2022 14 outdoor exhibitions including a residency
\n\u2022 4 prizes which will reward work on various themes
\n\u2022 2 educational projects
\n\u2022 2 screening evenings
\n\u2022 round tables and guided tours
\n\u2022 book signings organized by the Parisian bookstore\u00a0La Come\u0300te<\/a><\/p>\n

BEING A WOMAN PHOTOGRAPHER by Jane Evelyn Atwood, 2019 patron of the festival <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI never think of myself in those terms. It’s the others who tell me:
\n\u201cYou are a woman photographer\u201d Often, I am associated with subjects that deal with women, but I do not limit myself to that. I am not sectarian even if, yes obviously, I defend women’s rights.
\nI don’t like being considered a female photographer who takes photos of women. This may seem strange, but I can’t yet think of myself as a photographer even if I can no longer imagine my life without photography.
\nWhat happened was that I met people, I saw situations and I needed to know them up close. Photography appeared to me as a way to get closer to them. \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n

LES FEMMES S\u2019EXPOSENT is a festival entirely dedicated to professional women photographers (all categories: war, sports, art, etc.). Its vocation is to show their growing contribution to the world of photography and media, to make their work visible.<\/p>\n
