Finalists – Picto Fashion Photography Award 2026 : Constance Landowski
Biography
Constance Landowski is a French photographer and art director. Her work examines how bodies are constructed through imitation, posture, and the desire to exist. She photographs youth in moments of instability, where roles are learned and identities take shape.
Both raw and sensitive, her visual language oscillates between softness and directness. Within her work, fashion becomes a means of narrating these transitional states, revealing tensions between performance and fragility.
Comme les grands
This series explores adolescence as a territory of imitation. It portrays young people pushing themselves to extremes—smoking until their throats burn, wearing heavy leather, logos, and temporary tattoos as proofs that they are no longer children.
They repeat gestures observed elsewhere: in the streets, on screens, among older figures. Boys perform being “grown-up,” embodying virility, confidence, and sometimes domination. Fashion becomes a tool for learning: an oversized jacket, visible underwear, a studied posture—codes to belong, to exist.
Yet behind the performance, play persists: laughter, imbalance, uncertain gazes. Between innocence and mimicry, the images question the construction of contemporary bodies and capture this fragile moment of transition, when one is no longer a child, but not yet an adult.
