Finalists – Picto Fashion Photography Award 2026 : Lucy Leroy

Biography

Lucy Leroy is a visual artist and photographer. She approaches photography as a trace of reality—always subjective. Her work explores our place in a changing world and examines what we are and what we leave behind: transformations of reality, metamorphoses, and the relationship to time and identity.
For Leroy, the image is a material in itself. Rather than a surface to observe, it becomes a presence to engage with and question. Through printing, manipulation, and rephotography, the photograph moves beyond simple representation to become an object. Transitioning from digital file to tangible form, it transforms and opens a dialogue with matter and the external world.

Sédiments

Sediments investigates the notion of trace—the marks we leave behind, which we seek to preserve, transform, or erase. Like archaeological layers, the series treats images as imprints of memory and future.
Through photography, Leroy examines the impact of bodies and gestures in a changing world. The images extend beyond mere depiction: printed on textiles, captured in water or ice, they become fluid, fragile, and organic. Others, on aluminum or as rayograms, take on a more mineral, enduring quality, evoking a memory oriented toward the future.
The series explores how images can carry the imprint of their time and reflects on what we leave behind, telling the story of our present.
