Biography
Alessandro Ferraioli (b. 1996, Italy) is a portrait and fashion photographer based in Paris. With a background in Cinema and Photography from the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, he combines a theoretical base with a keen eye for aesthetics. Moving to Paris marked a new chapter in his exploration of light, allowing him to deeper study his understanding and needs to develop his style. Working as assistant photographer and digital operator, he tries to capture as much as possible from each set experience.
Capilli Illuminati
From the latin translation of «Enlightened Hair», this series portrays the importance of expression, hairstyles and makeup in the making of an image. Originating from a concept of a beauty shoot, Capilli Illuminati, delves further the simple aesthetic, and tries to highlight the power of self-expression.
The series consists of 19 images, featuring 6 different hairstyles and makeup as well as different lighting setups: both soft and diffused for a dreamlike effect and strong directional light or a dramatic backlight.
The biggest challenge was capturing the texture, the shine and the shape of the hair in a way that felt both dynamic and sculptural without losing the focus on the overall aesthetic.
