Biography

Héloïse Béghin, 22 years old, works with a graphic and minimalist approach in her photography. What inspires her is found in the essence of body movement and the experience of boredom. Before pursuing her Bachelor’s in photography, she spent most of her childhood in Picardy. Growing up and building herself in a small, conservative town revealed her sensitivity to art. The familial and institutional patterns that are passed down through generations in this environment trapped all forms of freedom and self-expression.
She sought emotions and sharpened her perspective through cinema and dance, which helped shape her way of expressing herself photographically.
She grew up surrounded by human patterns of a certain coldness, but also by the coldness of her surroundings. The landscapes of Picardy, marked by a striking monotony due to the flat horizon line and empty fields, silent settings, likely inspired her graphic signature in her photos.

Silence

Héloïse Béghin has always described photography as a silent poetry. The silence depicted in this series is not the absence of sound, but should resonate differently for each of us, as it influences our perceptions and feelings. In this world saturated with images, where everything is loud and immediate, it is essential to confront silence. Through her photos, she attempts to capture this inner silence, that moment when the image becomes a reflection of the mental state of her characters disconnected from the world around them.
In the series, she evokes a singular solitude, one that, in reaction to over-information and hyperconnectivity, becomes a form of abandonment. She is particularly interested in her generation, which lives in an over-connected world but paradoxically feels increasingly isolated. It is this solitude, sometimes chosen but often endured, that she seeks to convey.
In her photo series, she represents individuals trapped in their own world. The empty, minimalist settings and their hybrid, offbeat clothing represent their break from norms, their withdrawal from the world. These characters show a profound disconnection from reality. Clothing becomes a way to express this solitude, this distance.
The silence in her images is not empty; it is filled with emotions, sensations, and experiences. Through this absence, she seeks to provoke a response from the viewer, immersing them in a sensory universe where the absence of noise becomes an almost tangible presence.
