In her series Entrelacs, she blends cutting and weaving to transform photography into a sensory experience, where the image becomes a material in constant evolution.

Biography

Graduating with a Brevet des Métiers d’Art in Hyères, Manon Bailo discovers fashion photography during her studies and through the artistic exhibitions at Villa Noailles. After starting her career as a lighting assistant, she shifts towards fashion photography, enriching her perspective through numerous travels. At the same time, she becomes fascinated with jewelry weaving and decides to merge these two passions. Her creative process, which combines fashion photography and photographic printing techniques, blends cutting, interlacing, and texture to create works where dimensions transform and volumes emerge. Her minimalist style, emphasizing the interplay of light and shadow, is deeply influenced by her art history background. She presents here a collection of around fifteen woven creations. The works are unframed, allowing the exploration of nuances and overlapping layers.

Entrelacs

The series “Entrelacs” offers a subtle reflection on the fusion between the body and material, exploring the intimate relationship with fabrics and textures—essentially, the very essence of fashion. The precise cuts and weaving techniques transform the images into moving canvases, where each fragment of the body is deconstructed and then reassembled. The lights and chiaroscuro are amplified by the texture, and the image takes shape in a third dimension. The colors, deliberate choices closely linked to nature, bring us back to the roots of creation. The fully upcycled fabrics echo this return to the source. The materials and their play of shadows are captured in an infinite dance with the skin. These textile layers add a sensory dimension to the photography: the image then becomes fabric.
