Finalists – Prix Picto de la Mode 2025 : Margaux Corda

Margaux Corda is a photographer and visual artist born in Lausanne in 1994, and a graduate of ECAL. Based between Paris and Lausanne, she explores themes of identity, gender, and heritage throughout her work. As a queer woman, she continually questions the cultural and personal representations that shape our narratives.

Her latest series examines transformation in all its forms, blending bodies, materials, and symbols. Distorted reflections, organic textures, and states of transition create a poetic vision of the ephemeral, where beauty emerges through metamorphosis and the passage of time.

Biography

Margaux Corda, born in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1994, graduated from ECAL (École cantonale d’art de Lausanne) with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication, specializing in photography in 2018. She currently works between Paris and Lausanne as a freelance artist. Her artistic work focuses on themes of identity, beauty, and heritage, and their perception through our Western society. As a queer woman, she constantly questions the symbols and representations of gender today. The photographer also reflects on the historical, emotional, and familial baggage we “receive,” which she attempts to deconstruct in order to better understand it and, in turn, reclaim it. All of these themes are closely linked for her, and she makes them resonate with each of her projects.

Art of Shifting

This photographic project explores transformation in all its forms, both physical and internal. Through an assemblage of personal images and symbolic inspirations, it questions the way in which beings and materials evolve, disintegrate, and reinvent themselves. The body, a mirror of inner metamorphosis, becomes a field of experimentation where fragility and resilience intertwine. Distorted reflections, organic textures, and mutating elements evoke states of transition, recalling the natural cycles of living things: the skin moulting, the envelope cracking, and identity redefining itself. Between illusion and revelation, each image becomes a fragment of a perpetual process of change, where the human, the animal, and the inert merge. The series thus invites us to contemplate the beauty of the ephemeral and the inevitable passage of time on our bodies and minds.
