Finalists – Prix Picto de la Mode 2025 : Sofía París & Andreu de Pedro

Sofía París and Andreu de Pedro, two young Spanish artists, create works where intimacy and sensuality intersect in a visual exploration of the Mediterranean. Their series “Veri, Orangina & Aperol Spritz”, born from a summer spent on the coasts of Spain, Italy, and France, tells a universal love story between man and the sea. Shot on film, the series combines close-ups, still lifes, and Mediterranean landscapes, inspired by the aesthetics of the French New Wave and the work of Claude Nori. Through their work, they invite us to reflect on the bonds between man, the sea, and time, while celebrating the timeless beauty and history of the Mare Nostrum.

Biography

Sofía París and Andreu de Pedro, born in Zaragoza, Spain, in the 1990s. Their work is inspired by French New Wave films, the work of photographers such as Claude Nori, and the vibrant imagery of the Mare Nostrum. Their way of working is organic, seeking results that seem almost improvised, with the frequent use of telephoto lenses to capture the intimate details that make up an image of summer, like the tesserae of a mosaic. Thus, self-portraits of couples, barren landscapes, or still lifes blending fruits and fashion serve as a way to show both intimacy and sensuality.
Graduates in audiovisual and fashion photography, complemented by specialized courses, they have been working and collaborating together on artistic projects for several years. In 2022, they created the short film “A Summer in the Desert”. In July 2023, they traveled to Arles with the intention of promoting their project. There, they set up a stand as a pop-up gallery where they exhibited prints, postcards, and fanzines of their photography.
The idea for a photo project on the Mediterranean summer began to emerge. They then traveled the coasts of Spain, France, and Italy in search of the “timeless image” of a Mediterranean summer. “Veri, Orangina & Aperol Spritz” seeks to depict their intimate way of connecting with each other as well as their relationship with the Mediterranean.

« Veri, Orangina & Aperol Spritz »

“Veri, Orangina & Aperol Spritz” is the result of the collaboration between two young Spanish artists, Sofía París and Andreu de Pedro. The series, also published as a photo book, was created over the course of a summer spent on the coasts of Spain, Italy, and France. In both the moments of shooting and the contemplative, inactive ones, the book took shape, was forged, and was written.
Through the narrative of a journey around the Mediterranean Sea, this series tells a love story that touches on the universal. The images gathered here embody the love between a man and a woman, but also, and more importantly, the love of humankind for this “sea in the middle of lands,” its waters, its culture, and its history. Inspired by the heroes of antiquity and Homeric texts, the duo of artists offers a visual, sensitive, and intimate exploration of a geographical space that continues to fascinate us.
Shot on film, this work offers a sensual dive into the world of the Mare Nostrum. Imbued with a New Wave aesthetic, as well as the work of Claude Nori, this book is both a plastic exploration — close-ups, fragmentation, landscapes, still life — and a philosophical one: what is the nature of the bond that unites us with each other? What connects us to the Mediterranean Sea? The series spans the length of a summer, while also detaching itself from it. It carries the eternal voices of men and gods who have lived on these lands for millennia.
