Finalists – Picto Fashion Photography Award 2026 : Beatrice Olimpia Bonato

Biography

Béatrice Olimpia Bonato is an Italian photographer based in Geneva.
Graduated in 2015 from NABA (New Academy of Fine Arts of Milan), she began her career as an art director in advertising and fashion before dedicating herself to photography, while continuing personal projects and collaborations with magazines.
Her work evokes a sense of wandering and emotional voyeurism, often with a dreamlike touch. The fragments of situations she captures suggest a larger story and stimulate the viewer’s imagination. She draws inspiration from details and fleeting moments, whether involving people or elements of nature.

Dissolving Gently

We tend to seek comfort in the binary of places: inside and outside. The inside evokes control, shelter, civilization, while the outside suggests abandonment, the unknown, and raw nature. The inside is designed to contain; the outside, to liberate.
Yet sometimes, the curtain stirs and the outside seeps in. A breeze moves through the folds of cotton, the scent of sea air brushes against a sofa untouched for years. The boundary softens, and the architecture of everyday life teeters toward the wild.
This photographic series explores the idea of permeability, inspired by textile design. It depicts the experience of passing through textures such as lace, bark, water, or sunlight, which textiles express in the form of curtains, rugs, and knits. These materials predate walls and embody our oldest technologies of comfort.
Within these airy settings, the human figure appears—never dominant, always in dialogue. It is not a body conquering nature, but a porous body that gently blends into its environment.
