Finalists – Picto Fashion Photography Award 2026 : Cassandre Lafon

Biography

Cassandre Lafon is a filmmaker and photographer based in Paris. Born in Lyon, she graduated from the École Supérieure d’Art et de Design de Saint-Étienne, where she discovered the filmed diaries of the 1960s and 1970s—an enduring influence on her work—alongside family videos shot by her mother. These references have shaped her aesthetic and continue to inform her cinematic projects.
Her intimate approach is expressed through a careful use of close-up shots, rendering everyday details with sensitivity and subjectivity. Her work unfolds as a visual poem: rather than narrating, she gathers and assembles images into what she describes as a “bouquet of images.”
To allow this bouquet to fully emerge, she collaborates with multidisciplinary designer Andry Adolphe, with whom she co-directs the visual project Floregraphies, as well as with musicians such as Tasho Ishi. Alongside her personal work, commissioned projects allow her to explore other forms, including fashion imagery for the Canadian store Neighbour. Her films, music videos, and photographic series have been presented in art spaces such as Le Wonder in Paris, at film festivals including Côté Court in Pantin and New Forms Festival in Vancouver, as well as in retail spaces like Nepenthes in New York and Gr8 in Tokyo.

La Chapelle

La Chapelle is a series of 50 analog photographs produced between 2023 and 2025 on the metro platform of her neighborhood in Paris. The series combines documentary images and staged scenes to reestablish a direct relationship with the materiality of clothing.
The project reflects her contrasting rhythm of life, between photographing high-end fashion garments and her modest daily life in a working-class neighborhood. La Chapelle was exhibited at Union de la Jeunesse Internationale (TATI) in 2025, and a book is currently in development as part of the Wise Woman Mentorship 2026, of which the project is a laureate.
