Finalists – Picto Fashion Photography Award 2026 : Lucie Hautot
Biography
Lucie Hautot is a French photographer born in 1999 in Le Havre and based in Paris. Trained through fashion and advertising photography, she has developed a visual language where rigor meets sensitivity.
While her practice began with commissioned work, it is within her personal projects that she fully asserts her voice, exploring themes of identity, territory, and transmission. Her gaze seeks less to demonstrate than to reveal—a presence, an energy, a softness, or a strength.
Lucie approaches photography as a space for emancipation and projection. Situated at the intersection of fashion and documentary, her images move toward a shared intimacy, where aesthetics become a means of approaching truth.
À contre-terre
À contre-terre explores the spaces where Western culture is reinvented in France. The series goes beyond mere immersion in rodeo life to examine how a myth transforms when removed from its original context. Some embrace it, reinterpret it, and find in it a way to assert themselves.
The project reflects Lucie Hautot’s fascinated gaze on a culture that is foreign to her. By photographing gestures and rituals, she captures what changes, disappears, or persists when imagination meets reality. In these arenas, the myth is no longer fixed but alive, as individuals dream, reinvent, and appropriate what is within their reach.
The series highlights the reinvention of vernacular cultures through displaced myths, revealing a space of renewal and collective pride.
