Finalists – Picto Fashion Photography Award 2026 : Piero Gioacchino

Biography

Piero Gioacchino is a Paris-based photographer and filmmaker specializing in fashion and dance. His work transforms subjects into deities within an imaginary pantheon, each embodying a distinct role. Inspired by Arte Povera and contemporary dance, he explores a raw and poetic aesthetic, where gestures, textures, and spaces are essential to storytelling. His images range from statuesque poses to intimate moments, engaging viewers and transporting them beyond time. Collaborating regularly with dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet, he captures a unique precision of movement. His approach dialogues with the cinematic imagination of Pier Paolo Pasolini, whose sacred and carnal aesthetic informs Gioacchino’s quest for beauty that is both archaic and contemporary.

NOMAD

NOMAD, set on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, explores the essence of the human condition: adaptation. Once nomadic, humans have been forced to move and transform, yet modern sedentism has fostered the illusion of stable continuity and linear progress. In this mineral desert, the human figure regains a primitive and sovereign dimension. Actress Nadia Tereszkiewicz and dancer Alexandre Boccara embody archaic yet contemporary presences, interacting with black rock, ash, and wind. Garments extend the body, serving as vulnerable armor against the elements. Inspired by Arte Povera and Pasolini’s cinema, the project combines minimalism, raw materiality, and symbolic charge. The body becomes a site of experience and revelation. NOMAD narrates an initiatory journey, where photography and dance transform fashion, gesture, and landscape into tools of metamorphosis and rebirth.
